Signs Your Caesarstone Home Additions & ADU Is Failing

• Seam separation at the sink or cooktop cutout. This happens when the initial installer used a standard polyester resin instead of Caesarstone’s specified color-matched adhesive, or when thermal expansion from a south-facing window in a West Palm Beach addition stressed an already-tight seam. The gap widens, traps moisture, and darkens.
• Surface discoloration or “browning” near windows. • Water staining or dull spots that don’t clean off. These are almost never the Caesarstone itself failing. They’re etching from acidic cleaners or standing water on a surface that wasn’t properly sealed at the sink cutout, letting moisture wick into the substrate below and create a shadow.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s no dangerous tension or electrical hazard in countertop replacement, but the weight and precision make it a poor DIY project. A 3 cm Caesarstone slab runs 20-25 pounds per square foot - a typical 8-foot kitchenette run weighs 400+ pounds and requires suction cups and multiple handlers. More critically, templating is unforgiving: sink cutouts must account for faucet drilling, dishwasher air gap placement, and cabinet squareness within 1/8 inch. We’ve rescued three West Palm Beach ADU projects where the owner ordered a slab online and discovered too late that “standard” sink templates don’t match their undermount bowl.

What you can safely check: measure your overhangs with a tape measure, photograph any stamps or labels on the underside edge, and note your window orientation and glazing type.
