Sterling Bathroom Remodeling: The West Palm Beach Owner’s Guide

Sterling bathroom remodeling in West Palm Beach typically runs $9,000-$28,000 for a full replacement, with partial updates like shower surrounds or vanity swaps starting lower. We stock Sterling-compatible enclosures, doors, and hardware, and we can usually source same-day what we don’t carry on the truck. Most West Palm Beach homeowners discover their Sterling unit is failing when the shower door starts catching, the surround panels gap away from the wall, or the finish wears through in the high-traffic spots near the drain.

Which Sterling Models This Applies To

Sterling has produced bathroom products under several series names, and the part you need depends on when your unit was manufactured. The Ensemble series, Finesse shower doors, Accord bath-shower combos, and Vikrell-based surrounds each use proprietary rail systems, wall brackets, and seal geometries that don’t cross over. Check the model sticker, usually found on the hinge side of a door frame or the back wall of a surround panel; it’ll read something like 7110, 7125, or a Finesse-specific rail length like 43-5/8 inches. We see a lot of the 60-inch Accord units in West Palm Beach condos built between 2010 and 2018, and the Ensemble curve-front showers in the older ranch homes off Flagler Drive.

Sterling is a Kohler company, so OEM parts carry Kohler part numbers and typically ship in 3-5 business days. Quality aftermarket equivalents exist for rollers, seals, and magnetic latches, but we don’t spec aftermarket for the Vikrell structural panels or the pressure-fitted wall brackets. Those carry the load, and a tolerance mismatch in Florida’s expansion-contraction cycle means a callback. We keep common Ensemble and Finesse hardware on the truck; for discontinued lines like the older Intrigue series, we match the spec and fabricate what we can’t source.

Rowan Construction Group West Palm Beach is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Sterling or Kohler.

Signs Your Sterling Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

Signs Your Sterling Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
  • Door drag or derailment. The bottom rollers wear flat spots or the top rail bows from repeated stress. In West Palm Beach, the salt air accelerates corrosion in the roller axles, so a door that rolled smooth in 2019 is grinding by 2024. We replace the roller carriage and check rail straightness as a set.
  • Panel gaps or soft spots in the surround. Vikrell is a solid composite, but the adhesive bond between panels can fail if water gets behind the seam. You’ll feel flex near the corner joints or see discoloration spreading from the caulk line. This is structural; patching the caulk without addressing the substrate gap buys you months, not years.
  • Finish chalking or delamination. Sterling’s gelcoat surface breaks down with abrasive cleaners and UV exposure through bathroom windows. Once the white base shows through, the panel is porous and will stain permanently. We see this most in south-facing bathrooms in West Palm Beach where afternoon sun hits the shower wall.
  • Leakage at the door sweep or threshold. The vinyl sweep hardens and loses contact pressure, or the threshold itself cracks from thermal cycling. Water escapes onto the floor, not into the pan, and you get subfloor damage before you notice the drip. We spec a dual-durometer sweep that holds its shape longer in Florida heat.
  • Hardware loosening that retightening won’t fix. The wall anchors in fiberglass or Vikrell are brass inserts molded into the panel. When they spin free, the screw torque is gone and the bracket wobbles. We extract the failed insert and epoxy-bond a threaded stainless anchor, which outlasts the original.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Scope West Palm Beach Price Range
Full bathroom remodel (Sterling or compatible) $9,000-$28,000
Small bathroom remodel $5,000-$12,000
Shower replacement (Sterling unit) $3,000-$8,500
Tub-to-shower conversion $3,500-$10,000
Walk-in shower installation $4,500-$12,000
Vanity installation $800-$3,000

The range depends on three things: how much demolition the existing unit requires, whether we find moisture damage in the wall cavity (common in West Palm Beach homes where the original builder-grade vapor barrier failed), and whether you’re keeping the Sterling footprint or reconfiguring the drain location. Our quote is a flat written price with a written scope, delivered before any work starts. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, that number doesn’t move unless you sign a change order. We pull permits, pass inspections, and leave you with a documented photo record and a 365-Day Done Right Promise. We also source KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone when the project scope expands beyond Sterling-compatible components.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground and a hard stop. An owner can inspect the model sticker, measure the door opening width at three points (top, middle, bottom), and photograph the roller carriage from inside and outside the shower. That information lets us pre-order the right part before we arrive. What we don’t recommend: removing a loaded shower door solo, cutting caulk seams with a razor near tempered glass, or attempting to reset wall panels that carry structural load. Tempered glass can shatter without warning if twisted, and a 60-inch Vikrell panel with waterlogged backing weighs more than it looks. If you’re handy and patient, you might manage a roller swap or sweep replacement. If the surround is delaminating or the drain is moving, the demolition scope exceeds what a homeowner should attempt without proper bracing and disposal.
