Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

Ameristar produced three cabinet lines relevant to West Palm Beach kitchens: the Builder Series (2012-2018), the Classic Series (2015-2022), and the short-run Pro Series (2019-2021). The Builder Series used 3/4-inch particleboard shelves with a vinyl wrap finish; Classic upgraded to plywood boxes with thermofoil doors. To identify your line, check the hinge cup bore pattern. Builder Series used a 35mm cup with two 45mm mounting holes on 48mm centers. Classic and Pro moved to a three-hole pattern with a 9.5mm offset, which is the Blum standard. If you’re replacing drawer glides, measure the side-mount bracket hole spacing: Builder used 16-inch centers, Classic and Pro used 22-inch full-extension undermounts. OEM Ameristar hardware was sourced through Hardware Resources and Rev-A-Shelf. For glide replacements, we use Knape & Vogt 8400 series or Blum Tandem as equivalents - both exceed the original spec and carry a lifetime warranty where the OEM part had five years. For hinge replacements, we match the cup pattern and upgrade to soft-close where the original was standard close. Signs Your Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

• Drawers drift open or slam shut. The glide nylon rollers have flattened or the ball-bearing race has corroded. In West Palm Beach, salt air accelerates this even inland - we see it in kitchens within three miles of the Intracoastal by year six.

Safe to check yourself: Confirm the hinge cup pattern with a tape measure. Look for the Ameristar sticker inside the door or on the drawer box - it’s usually a white label with a six-digit SKU and a two-letter plant code. Check whether the drawer is side-mount or undermount; a flashlight and a phone photo tell us everything we need to bring the right part.

Where DIY goes wrong: Re-boring a stripped hinge cup in a particleboard door without a jig destroys the door. Installing full-extension undermount glides requires precise side-clearance; 1/16 inch off and the drawer binds or the front face cracks. Replacing a sink-base bottom panel means supporting the countertop, disconnecting plumbing, and working in a space where the DWV lines limit your swing.
