The part number is stamped on the glass spacer bar, visible when you open the sash and look down at the bottom rail, or on a foil label inside the frame head. Classic Series used a 5/8-inch sash balance tube; Pro and Impact Plus shifted to 3/4-inch, and they’re not interchangeable. For weatherstrip, Cover OEM uses a dual-durometer bulb seal with a rigid PVC spine; aftermarket equivalents exist from Trim-Lok and Ultrafab, but the spine width varies by 1/16 inch, which is enough to cause compression leaks if you guess wrong. You can verify the series from the label, check the weep holes for blockage (a common cause of sill rot misdiagnosed as frame failure), and confirm that the lock keepers haven’t simply loosened. What goes wrong past that: sash balances are under hundreds of pounds of tension, and the wrong tool slips the spring into the frame channel or your hand. IGUs weigh 40-80 pounds depending on size, and the vacuum seal breaks if you torque the frame during removal.
